Box Office Breakdown: Hudson and McConaughey Strike Gold

, the latest joint venture for Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, debuted at the top of the charts this weekend with $21 million.  (When that total is worthy of a first place finish, you know times were slow.)  This marks the second time the pair opened in the $20 million dollar range; 2003’s How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days started at $23.8 million.

was the only other new entry in this weekend’s Top Ten.  The Martin Lawrence comedy grossed $16 million over the three days pushing Hannah Montana into third place.  The 3-D concert, though, had the stronger per screen average ($14,987).

Matthew McCoaughey and Camila Alves - probably best known for partying with and living out of an Airstream trailer - has just revealed that he will soon be seen with a new babe in his arms.  On his personal website, the actor announced that he and his girlfriend are expecting their first child.

Prior to his relationship with model Camila Alves, 24, People’s Most Eligible Bachelor had been linked to former co-stars and .  Although this “gift from God” does not necessarily mean marriage will soon follow, the couple have already been together for over a year now.  So who knows?  If Scott Baio can finally get married and have a baby, there’s hope for everyone.

Matthew McConaugheyAs reported earlier, personal issues left an unexpected casting hole in the upcoming film Tropic Thunder.  Luckily, another beach bum was able to slide into the role.

will now be joining the film directed by Tropic—also starring Stiller, and —is about a group of actors who have to assume the soldier roles they’re playing in a movie.

Expect to see Tropic in theaters next July.
